Even before The Fourth Hand was published, Irving was already at work on a novel, Until I Find You , that had a number of autobiographical elements to it. In the 820-page novel, Irving focuses on Jack Burns, an actor/screenwriter who learns about what he thinks is true about his somewhat tragic past from his rather difficult tattoo artist John Winslow Irving was born in Exeter, New Hampshire, in 1942.
